When Good Collage Goes Bad

There's always a steady confluence of synchronicity around the rim of the Black Hole that is Dr. Johnson's Cat. These two links arrived almost simultaneously before they were sucked through and shot out Johnson's ass.

The first was Francesca Berrini's Unusual Cards, loosely grouped into categories such as "Land of the Giant Food," "Childhood Memories," "Days of the Dinosaurs" (from which I've lifted this picture), and "Pin-Ups." Original art and blank greeting cards available online and, presumably, at The Creation Museum ("Held hostage for nearly two-hundred years by the enemies of God, several dinosaurs are now free to set the record straight.....")The second site is "Hymn to Her," collages by Karen Whitehill, who has taken famous paintings of Jesus and other male figures from the Bible and replaced their heads with those of female film stars from the 30s through the 50s. So hard to choose which one to share with you, Dear Reader — Joan Crawford Wrestling with the Angel? Fay Wray in the Den of Lions? Deborah Kerr Calming the Storm? Olivia deHavilland Raising Lazarus? Lauren Bacall Riding into Jerusalem on an Ass? Maureen O'Hara Presiding Over the Dinner at Emmaus is certainly a hoot — but I went with a cliché, because, let's face it, it doesn't get more surreal than this.
