Golden Globes Wrap-Up

William Shatner won! Hurray! (I missed the last hour of GG because i had to turn away to watch Boston Legal ..... Whoever there is in charge of casting is obviously smoking crack, and the show is much the better for it. They brought Freddie Prinze Jr. on as Shatner's son early in the season, and now they have brought Betty White on as James Spader's new secretary, reprising her character from the last gasps of The Practice. They've also brought Candace Bergen on, although they seem to have forgotten in those same last episodes of The Practice she was Mistress of a small town in Massachusetts, the mother of Spader's best friend, and the woman who popped his cherry. Now she's a senior law partner and Shatner's old flame ..... How the mighty have fallen! Also, she should start complaining that Shatner and Spader are much better written ..... anyway .....) Funniest moment: Meryl Streep congratulating Natalie Portman, who beat her out for best supporting actress. (A faux venomous "Congratulations," followed by a minute of deadly stares.) Touching: Jamie Foxx. (Also surprised there was no mention made of the recent Foxx pix — 100+ by last count — in which he is apparently shown pleasuring himself and others. ""Here's what you can tell everybody...There's no farm animals involved. There's no men involved. And to be honest with you? [The photos are] nice." According to the New York Daily News, Foxx admits he has "a commitment problem." There are also some interesting pictures of Owen Wilson around, from Zissou, sporting what seems to be a piece of PVC pipe ..... but I digress .....) Tiredest moment: Robin Williams. (Don't recall them showing a clip from One Hour Photo; duh! ..... my favorite turn I think is still his uncredited cameo in Dead Again, where he manages to fuse the creepy and the funny.) Oh, Nip/Tuck producer, thanking F/X for letting him include conjoined twins and a threeway in a single episode. (I guess now he'll claim a mandate, too.)
